| Everybody's Sick |
[Nov. 14th, 2009|01:24 pm] |
A plague ran rampant among the people who were involved with the big Halloween show at the Somerville Theatre (including me). The earliest-afflicted are now recovering, but many are still in the heavy throes of flu/bronchitis/pneumonia/etc symptoms. I'm curious how the rest of the neighborhood is doing. Have you gotten ill in the past month? Is anyone in need of help?
EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: The local outbreak did not originate at the Somerville Theatre, and fortunately their staff was spared. Sorry if it sounded otherwise! |

| Special Election for US Senate - Poll |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|10:54 am] |
The special primary election for Senator Kennedy's seat will take place on Tuesday, December 8. Seems like a good time to post a poll and find out who davis_square residents support. I'll probably post a second one a few days before the election.
Like previous political polls in our community, this one is public, with all votes publicly readable. If you'd like, post a comment saying why you support your favorite candidate (or oppose some other candidate). There are still a lot of undecided voters out here.
Poll #1484875 Special Election for US Senate
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 100Who do you support for U.S. Senate in the December 8 primary election? |

| More on red line. |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|09:04 am] |
The SN reports that:
 www.thesomervillenews.com/main.asp
This is really confusing, since the original report seemed to indicate that DELAYING that project was the problem, not the project itself. Does anyone have more information on this?
Edit: Looks like they had left out "A delay of". They fixed it now.

| Anyone Looking for a Roommate? |
[Nov. 11th, 2009|10:33 am] |
Hello! I work in Easton, Ma and am looking to move to the city, preferably Somerville since it is close to 93.
I am 23, female, Mass born and raised in Ma, went to college in Worcester.
I am looking to move into a building with people that are social, fun and respectful of space. Right now, I am living in Easton, alone and bored. There is nothing to do here and no young people.
I can sometimes be someone that keeps to myself but I am pretty adventurous and love cities. I lived out of a bag in NYC this summer and couchsurfed so needless to say I am not afraid of the unknown.
Please get in touch if interested!

| Beauty Salon |
[Nov. 10th, 2009|03:22 pm] |
I'm preparing for a surprise night on the town and I'm looking for a "Beauty Salon/SPA" where I can take the GF to get a blow-out and get made up. I thought it would be an easy thing to find - on the old continent all you have to do is get your significant other to a beauty salon where they'll primp her out in 30 minutes and voila... you got yourself a presentable girlfriend. From my search here it seems that the beauty market is very segregated - you go to a hair salon to get your hair done, you go to nail salon to get your nails done, you go to a spa to get a facial or massage.
Any suggestions on where I can find a all inclusive beauty pit-stop? |

| mens haircut recommendations? |
[Nov. 10th, 2009|03:10 pm] |
My husband is looking for recommendations for a place to get a haircut. He has curly hair (medium curly) that he is interested in keeping not super short, with some sort of nice shape. He is specifically looking for someone who knows what they are doing with curly hair, and can do more than just the basic supercuts-style short clipper cut. Not too expensive would be great. Any recommendations from people with similar hair needs?
ETA: Thanks for the suggestions everyone! We'll definitely check these out. Further thoughts/recommendations obviously still welcome. |
